Between Christmas and New Year, a group of volunteers, together with local National Trust rangers, planted 3000 trees, to create Queen's Wood, at the foot of the Combesgate Valley.
According to ranger Stuart Ayres, the aim of the wood is to create 'a place of relaxation and tranquility' with four sensory zones; water, air, smell and touch.
A variety of trees have been planted, including fruit trees, English oak and beech, all chosen for their benefits for biodiversity and wildlife.
We are very much looking forward to seeing the wood develop over the coming years!
