It is pretty unusual to have snow in Woolacombe, so we were surprised to wake up to a winter wonderland for our 'Woolacombe At Christmas' event on Saturday! It really added to the festive feel in the village, whilst families visited participating businesses to complete the Treasure Hunt. Santa and his elves visited on his sleigh in the late afternoon distributing sweets to children as he toured around the village, then we headed in to the warmth of the Red Barn for carol singing with the Salvation Army and local school children.
Sunday saw the return of the Woolacombe Christmas Craft & Farmer's Market ... fortunately most stallholders made it safely to the hall, with just a couple being snowed (or iced!) in, and sensibly deciding not to risk travelling. It was great to see lots of locals, and a few visitors, Christmas shopping at the market, with a wide range of gifts and local produce on offer.
The afternoon was rounded off with local sea shanty group, Anchors Aweigh, singing in the Red Barn!
Thanks to everyone involved in organising the weekend's events, and to everyone who came out to support us ...
Merry Christmas everyone!
