Marwood Hill Garden

This magical garden is tucked away in a peaceful Devon valley, and is just a twenty minute drive from Woolacombe.

Covering 20 acres, with three beautiful lakes, this tranquil garden will provide a day of both inspiration and relaxation for the whole family.

Created by Dr Jimmy Smart VMH in the late 1950’s, the gardens are a wonderful haven in which to relax and enjoy the impressive collections of plants, shrubs and trees and experience the views and peaceful atmosphere, whilst walking through the woodland areas.

Plant Sales   

At Marwood Hill Garden, the aim is to provide something a little bit different.  It is not a ‘Garden Centre’ but retains the charm and individuality of an old-fashioned nursery.  The experienced team of gardeners are always happy to give advice and ensure that both you and your plants are happy!

Tea Rooms 

The award-winning Tea Rooms are situated in what used to be Dr Smart’s living room where, as you would expect, the views of the garden are stunning at any time of the year. There is also have a lovely tea garden area outside so that the views can be enjoyed on sunny days. Menus change through the season but always include homemade or locally sourced selection of cakes, soups, hot dish specials, sandwiches, salads and of course homemade scones for our special Devon cream teas. We also have Gluten Free cakes, scones and lunches available.

Gift Shop 

The Gift Shop is located inside the Tea Room, and offers a variety of gifts and mementoes of the Garden for sale.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
